Attempting in situ BIOS chip flashing
Most DDR3-era motherboards are seeing multiple points of failure by now, the most common being the degradation of the BIOS memory chip. In some instances, re-flashing the BIOS image file to the chip with the use of a USB programmer can help.
This particular motherboard has two chips, one as a backup.
The procedure is simple and requires an operable computer to interface with the BIOS chip.
Contact must be ensured between pins on the test clip with the pins on the chip.
This particular chip needed to be replaced because it failed verification after flashing.
